US Tour

January
Fri 23 - USA - New York Hammerstein Ballroom
Sat 24 - USA - New York Hammerstein Ballroom
Mon 26 - USA - New York Hammerstein Ballroom
Tue 27 - USA - New York Hammerstein Ballroom
Fri 30 - USA - Los Angeles Universal Amphitheatre
Sat 31 - USA - Los Angeles Universal Amphitheatre

'Some of our fans in the USA may also be wondering why we are only to play in New York and Los Angeles. The answer to this is simply that we feel that the 'Give Me Ed' Summer tour was very comprehensive and we felt it was too early for the band to return for another full tour. We still wanted to visit our friends there so the decision was made. We've had a very long but phenomenally successful year and we look forward to seeing you all soon.'

me too :) I'm happy that I got to see them in the Give Me Ed tour 3 times... and feel lucky that they coming to LA, but I understand their need for rest :)

although many shall be pissed...

looks like they are going to miss Australia again... they haven't been to Oz since Fear of the Dark... oy!

I've been pondring hitting a NY show simply because I could take a whole week off work, and hit some broadway shows with my wife...

Nope, to expensive all around. Kudos to you folks who get to see the show.. I'll wait for a boot, I guess *sigh*

This thread should be titled 'Iron Maiden to fans: Fuck you'.

The irony is, I get to see them in Nottingham on the UK leg next month. It's only by pure chance that I'll be there at the same time.

The official Maiden board is tearing itself to pieces as we speak.

Anyone know when those 2 CA shows go on sale?

After those 2 shows, Maiden will pull ahead of Rush to be the ORIGINAL band I've seen live the most times. And pull ahead only by one song, because in 1990 I saw them play one song [The Trooper] at the Whiskey. I was close enough to reach out and touch Steve Harris as he played, so I did.

Of course I've seen The MaidenS live even more times than that.

I would man, and it would be nice to meet up with all the board folks and band folks, but $300 for airfare, room, and food is too expensive just to see a single show. Think of it this way, would you pay $350 to see them? Prolly' not..

ah well :) I already have another means of seeing the NY and Cali shows lined up..just have to hope theycome through. hehe

Very few bands tour Australia because it's so cost prohibitive. Unless you're doing a tour like Kiss' Alive Worldwide Tour of 1996-97 for their reunion, most bands lose their shirts.

That is intersting. I thought they would do a hop in the BIG cities like maybe the same number of dates but one in LA, one is San Antonio, one in Chicago, one in New York etc and spread it out so the die hard fans would have a show near their largest local city.

A point I've made quite a few times on the IM BB

I'm surprised they didn't cut 2 dates in NY, bump to a larger arena. Then add in: Atlanta, Chicago/Detroit (one or the other), Denver, Dallas, and then LA.

That would have put a show about 400-500 miles on average from pretty much any fan, except those in North Dakota, and they like sheep there more than Iron Maiden anyway...

Cost prohibitive because it costs so much to ship out all the gear to Australia in the first place. All the gear has to be sent by boat, if it's not being rented. If the cost is more than what they'll make in going, they won't do it.

Would people be willing to pay the prices that the band is going to have to ask if they're not going to make money otherwise? Remember, it is the music business.
