ps: although slough feg doens't make the cut they are KICKING MY FUCKING ASS RIGHT NOW. god damn scalzi is a genius, but only a MACHINE when teamed up with cobbet.

after seeing them live ... Slough Feg dived tremendously in my book ... the band seems to have the chemistry of oil and water on stage and look like escapees from a circus sideshow ...

It's funny how I'm supposed to take this personally. :loco:

Anyway, I think I've seen a million shit performances, and never once has it impacted the way I feel about the band. I don't think Megadeth, for example, have ever put on a *great* live show....and yet, they are masters of their craft and I own all their albums.

I still think Slough Feg are PHENOMENAL. (And yes, I still think their debut is the closest they have to a 10/10 scoring even if Terrorizer announced Twilight of the Idols as being the 5th best US metal album of all time. BUt what do they know? :loco: ).

P.S. Hammers of Misfortune are about to release what could be the album of the year, if not decade.

P.P.S. Or it could be shite. :loco:

P.P.P.S. But I doubt it. :loco: :loco:

just because they aren't good live does not mean they arent an amazing band. Hell, maybe they're just crowd shy. I know some people who can't perform for crap around strangers.

if it's better than the august engine i'll eat a shoe. a small one, but a shoe nonetheless.

Slough Feg's problem is their set list. It's that simple. Had they played for 30 minutes, I would have been fine, but after an hour, it gets tiresome. They don't vary it up enough, and they ONLY play all their fastest songs. Otherwise, they play their instruments (or sing) perfectly.

I guess you have to be a fan to begin with to truly enjoy a live show. Certainly, knowing the music beforehand helps the live experience.

yeah, Versus the world, i've got a fever of 103 and my throat feels like I swallowed a blender so I'm not doing so good (yet i'm at school anyway)

@jayk: probably. the only thing worth really rocking out this year are queens and mars volta. i still haven't found a killer metal release. lots of above average, but nothing killer.

oh and just when i thought i was starting to enjoy the new ulver? nope. it's boring! it only has so many chances left but so far, no good. :erk:

that's the spirit...infect everyone else!

Nah, i went home after first class. First class is all lecture/lab (It's on Netware) so I kinda don't wanna fall behind in that one. The afternoon class is Cisco, and the teacher makes tits on a bull seem useful and exciting and worthwhile listening to.

now to drink disgusting volumes of tea and take some echinacea and hope this goes away before tomorow (halloween party #1)

Iron Maiden - Number Of The Beast (goes without saying, really... although I'm usually torn between this and Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son when I'm in the mood for some Maiden, Number Of The Beast typically wins)
Faith No More - King For A Day, Fool For A Lifetime (I'm on my second copy of this - Angel Dust may be the more out-there record, but I find this one to have a song for every mood)
Katatonia - Last Fair Deal Gone Down (second copy of this one too)
Opeth - Blackwater Park (yep, and this one)
Metallica - Master Of Puppets
Tool - Lateralus
Nile - In Their Darkened Shrines
Meshuggah - Catch 33
Anaal Nathrakh - The Codex Necro
The Firstborn - The Unclenching Of Fists (concept album centering around Tantric Buddhism - elements of black/death/prog/thrash coupled with throat singing, sitars and various other eastern influences)
Carcass - Symphonies Of Sickness
Obituary - Slowly We Rot
Fear Factory - Demanufacture (I'm still stealing riff ideas from this album)
Capharnaum - Fractured (this gets regular spins)
God Forbid - IV: Constitution Of Treason

dude if you call catch 33 a masterpiece while still not owning I, well then you... you're just... silly. :tickled:

I'm doing a metal only list:

Cryptopsy - Blasphemy Made Flesh
Satyricon - Dark Medieval Times
Enslaved - Vikingligr Veldi
Emperor - In The Nightside Eclipse
Arcturus - Aspera Hiems Symfonia
Gehenna - Seen Through The Veil Of Darkness (Second Spell)
Decapitated - Nihility
Borknagar - Quintessence
Mayhem - De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
