It’s well chronicled that Manes is a metal band with roots in raw black metal. So if you just want to read this review and complain that Manes was better before they became an entirely different band, I suggest you just go find somebody that cares. When Manes changed into the band we now know them as, the world became a better place. That’s not to diminish their accomplishments in raw black metal. Much like Ulver, Manes decided to completely change directions with their style of music, and much like Vilosophe, the [view] EP is a brilliant display of the use of samples, electronics, and dance-related beats in rock/metal.

[view] is part remix and part experiment. Don’t worry, though. The entire album flows nearly as well as Vilosophe. The beats might be more electronic, and there might be a few extra intro/outro segments, but as a whole this EP can stand as its own piece of work. Often times now days, EP’s are simply another method for a band to make another buck or to get their name out there, and the material is simply rehash or just not up to par. Manes completely avoids that scenario on this EP. The band experiments more on [view] than they did on Vilosophe, but not at the expense of alienating any fans of the previous album. Manes throws in three remixes, but all of them are fresh and exciting. Essentially this EP does exactly what the band intended; it leaves the listener excited and eager for the next full-length.
