Just picked up the last album by Manticora entitled "Hyperion" and cannot wait to see these guys live. I highly recommend it!

I downloaded Hyperion and 8 Deadly Sins

Didn't like Hyperion that much but the first few songs on 8 Deadly Sins sound a little better... something about the singer just pisses me off.

Yeah, the singer's tough to get in to. He's not bad, just "special" and different. But not to everyone's tastes.

Somehow I think this is going to be the kind of band that really kicks the hell out of us live though.

I got 8 Deadly Sins earlier this week and have been playing it a ton. It is very good. "Playing God" is probably my favorite track. Without being a rip off or clone of either band I describe their sound as Blind Guardian meets Brainstorm. I hope to be at PP this year and witness their US debut.

I played "King of the Absurd" last night on WREKage and got good responses from it. We're rebuilding a bit of a power-metal listener base lately. I even had a request for Sun Caged last night!

I really wanted to play something from Manticora when I announced they'd been booked for PP, so we had to Take Steps: download the mp3 through the PP site, play it on the production studio's puter and pipe it over to the air studio for broadcast. It was almost comical yelling through doorways back and forth to get everything in synch, but it was worth it. :headbang:

These guys really don't do a whole lot for me :erk: "Help me like no one can" is not too bad though

It took me several listens to get into Manticora, but I'm glad I was patient. I really love 8 Deadly Sins. The top tracks for me, are Playing God, Creator Of Failure, It Feels Like The End (my favorite), and Help Me Like No One Can. It's a very good disc, I hope it hits you after a few more spins.

I with you, they do nothing for me either. Someone else said the singer was hard to get into, I think that's 'cause he's not very good. I've been through the samples on their site a few times and nothing stands out...nothing to grab onto.

I really like the singer's voice. It's very original, and has a truly dark quality to it. It fits the music perfectly. As for 8 Deadly Sins, the songs are a bit hit or miss for me. Some of them I love, some of them just don't grab me. I also agree that Manticora seems like one of those bands that's just going to slay live.

Interesting Greg - I think having been familiar with their sound for the past five years gave me the ability to truly appreciate the monster that is 8 Deadly Sins right off the bat. Give it some time, I think even the ones that "miss" you will grow on you eventually. With the possible exception of one or two tracks, I think the new release is outstanding.

Have you had a chance to absorb Roots of Eternity yet? "The Vision", "The Flood" and "Nowhere Land" are killers!
