On one hand, I too am anxious to find out officially who it is and dissapointed that it has taken so long

On the other hand, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt

I mean they arer replacing the guy who has drummed for them for over two decades and is a founding member and driving force of the band.

I think we can tell by their music how specific they are - I am sure they could hire anyone to 'get the job done' but not only want someone who can do that, but want some time writing and playing with him in the studio to ensure their choice is the right one.

Whether you like the band or not or like Portnoy or not, replacing him is a huge deal for the band.

I am sure they don't want a repeat of the Sherinian thing with having to deal with switching a person out a few years down the road, especially in the drum slot.

Their last release wasn't too shabby, but yeah, I'm with you 100% on this. It WAS an interesting blip on the radar (Portnoy's removal) but enough of the drama already, Announce the FNG, and then get to business.....

It all makes sense. Portnoy was released this fall and they've been rehearsing with one drummer since the fall. I'll bet anything it's Mike Portnoy. There's been a shitload of publicity and buzz over all this. Who doesn't love a little drama and attention? Come on. Tell us it's MP and get it over with.
