Marshall MG30fx

Too grainy distortion but has a nice old school vibe. With a tube screamer could work well for that styles

Not a fan of that tone at all. No offense, just sounds rough.

An old guitarist that I used to play with had the MG100FX I think, the head version. Sounded ok but is probably the cheapest Marshall amp you could possibly by and was SS.

oh, I didn't buy it, a guy I recorded over the week used it,,,he insisted on using it. so I said fuck it and mic'd it up. That tone was totally his and in reality he didn't try to tweak it.

Sounds as bad as you'd expect
A couple of years ago i was looking for a practice amp and I tested a small MG combo, line 6 spider iv, peavey vypyr 15 or 30 (can't remember) and rolland cube xl40.
None of them sounds great as they're just ss practice amps but I remember the MG and the spider being the worst of the bunch, very plastic sounding.
The vypyr sounded too dark for my tastes, probably because the speaker sucks so I bought the cube as it sounded alright.
So you're better off recording with ampsims unless you can mic a tube amp :)
