Mastering EQ settings

When mastering, how much (if at all) do you generally cut out of the mid range frequencies? I'm totally new to mastering but damn my shit sounded hella better when I cut the mids out.

I try to mix as accurately as possible and eq in the final stage just so to at least have all the songs in almost same level and 'quality'.

Just do whatever you want to it to make it sound "natural." If it sounds like a good recording of a band playing in the style they play in, then you've got it
