They are really hyped and those who don't "get it"(not in a negative way) just feel they are overrated and maybe bands they like should have the type of recognition Mastodon is having.

On this forum, perhaps, but they are more complex than a lot of people in the real world are used to listening to.

I saw them on a bill with Fear Factory and Ill Nino, and some other godawful thing (I must point out that we left after Mastodon), and the crowd of troglodytes seemed utterly unable to fathom the Mastodonness of it all. Similar reactions at Ozzfest....
