Making the mix cleaner would definitely kill the Songs. This is Sludge and it's meant to be dirty. I really can't imagine Mastodon with a cleaner mix. And this comes from a guy who absolutely loves the Organic Hallucinosis sound, which is as clean as it gets

Yeah I agree, but Mastodon's stuff has an even more raw quality to it. They usually use boosted Plexis and JCM 800s for the recordings as far I know. At least the older recordings.

Oh and to answer your question, the only popular modern amp that I haven't owned is a Recto. Need to get on that one of these days. I'd go with an old 2 channel, Rackmount, or Roadster.

I have it, it's an absolute stunning design. I had tons of people comment me on how much they liked it or... not liked it because of the staring eyes.
The amount of details is sick too. It seems to be a thin print though, the shirt is very lightweight too so I tend not to wear it as much as my other shirts just to make sure it stays good looking
