Matt Barlow and Pyramaze

i wonder if he'll grow his hair back... he had some SWEET hair... badass hair plus kick ass awesome vocals... its the total package... you could wage war with it.

What? He looks silly now. Especially compared to this:

Zach did you read his statement? He didn't join Pyramaze because he wanted to make a grand triumphant return to crush whatever tiny testicles other power metal singers have... he said that he joined them because they're working class guys who are still really dedicated to their music, which is what he wants, he doesn't want to get sucked back into the music business. I haven't heard any Pyramaze but do you really think Iced Earth would have stuck out much without him? Glorious Burden is pure zzzzzzzzz without him. We're lucky he came back at all, so even without his beautiful beautiful long hair, I'm glad one of the most powerful voices I've ever heard is making music again

Matt, i love Barlow as much as the next guy. Barlow era iced earth is some of the few power metal albums that i can still listen to these days because he's got great emotion, but still has that ugly metalness to him that bands like Angra just don't have.

That said, i'll repeat that i don't like pyramaze. It's not my decision, and no hair off anyones nuts if i don't get excited about this. Since it's a forum, i'm throwing out my oppinion.

And you're right. Glorious burden is the FIRST iced earth album i've ever sold because it sucked so bad. I want barlow back in iced earth, but only because of live stuff... jon seems to be running out of ideas (just look at the last D&W disc...)

Like the poster says (and again, i didn't make it. Wish i had), just because he's an excellent singer doesn't make the band more than mediocre. I may very well be wrong about this one, but they've never written anything that made my pecker dance.

i listened to those pyramaze songs on their website... i didn't think they were all bad...

and btw

Barlow era iced earth is some of the few power metal albums that i can still listen to these days...

isn't iced earth thrash?

idunno... its all either good metal or bad metal to me....

God, wasn't that CD just fucking horrible?

And yeah, he had some good hair. A little better than that Larry guy's anyways.

well I can tell you the Something wicked this way comes trilogy (prophecy, birth of the wicked, the coming curse) is way better with Barlow (not really a surprise though since they're perfect that way). listening to the single with the "remakes" with Owens on vocals and it's not nearly as good.. most of the stuff has been rearranged to the worse also.
