I found this on spawn's live journal:

I don't have a problem with this.
He's earning more money and playing to bigger crowds than ever before.. :)

I want to see him playing himself in an animated Disney musical.

What do you mean what happened to him? He quit a band and joined the police...

Blimey! I hope he enjoys working for a salary now. If he can just email his talent over to me I'll be happy to give up my public service job to be a rock star.

Oh I am crying. Matt, what are you doing? :erk:

It's his journey I guess. Maybe he needed the security of a regular salary and to know where he was waking up each day. Does he have a wife and kids?

Oh, all that hair, just............GONE! :(

I mean what happened to him, because he is such an obvious talent, one of the greats, and he tossed it away to slide back into mediocrity. I know I know, whatever makes him happy, good on him for having the balls to do what he wants to, yadda yadda, I just think it is an amazing waste. Iced Earth are just a growing force as well. The Glorious Burden is their best selling album yet, and probably would have done even better with Matt on vocals.

...is just upsetting.

Well, I actually admire Barlow's patriotism, to give up what I consider to be my dream career (singing in a metal band) to joining "Homeland Defense". But like I said in spawno's journal, why the Homeland Defenders? That's like quitting a lucrative acting career to become a security guard at a factory. At least he could have joined the Marines or something.

Spawn never said why he left. He just left. I suspect he still trolls the boards occasionally though.

I'm all for him doing what he wants to do, and I'll never wish him back if he doesn't want to do it. Especially because he was probably on a salary with Iced Earth anyway, if that band works the way I suspect that band works.

I suspect he was getting some kind of salary with IE, but probably not what he gets now. I don't think he's doing it for the money though. I think he honestly believes he's doing his country some service, and I do admire that, even if he looks like a prat now. It just doesn't make sense that he's joined Homeland Defenders or whatever it's called. Isn't that some kind of Dad's Army affair?

Nup. I admire him for doing what he believes. People said I was crazy when I gave up a cushy contracting job to come here and work for nothing. And look at me now!
