Fox owns the rights to the original movies until 2020. I doubt they'll ever be released.

Fuckin' Star Wars, dude. Don't you keep up with all the love for the original films and hatred of Lucas?! Everyone wants the original trilogy on Blu Ray but it'll never happen. They put it out on laserdisc and then those were briefly printed on DVD, but the quality is shit, so we all remain butthurt.

My friend made these in trade for several bottles of Trooper 666 beer (the limited one). Unaltered original Star Wars trilogy on Blu-fucking-ray. You have no idea how huge the collective nerdboner was this weekend for my wife and I. They are unbelievable, and we were finally able to watch a piece of our childhood restored, in high definition no less. Quite literally the first time either of us had seen the originals since the 1980s. Granted, her initial experience was dubbed in Farsi back in the old country, but still. We both grew up with this shit. And they remain amazing. Not in a retro charm sort of way, no. Just solid fucking cinema. Zero need for bastardization, just add popcorn (we did).
