************ELITIST RECORDS NEWS******************

Welcome to the latest newsletter from Elitist Records. For those
unfamiliar with the label, we're an imprint of Earache Records
specialising in state-of-the-art and cutting-edge underground
metal. So far we have five bands on our roster, namely Ephel
Duath, Rakoth, Without Face, Forest Stream and Umbral
Presence. More bands are to be announced soon.

***RAKOTH: The album "Planeshift" out soon. The re-issue of
this masterpiece will be in the shops complete with brand-new
digipac artwork and a full re-mastering job courtesy of Tim Turan
at Turan Audio (Opeth / Emperor, etc). Rakoth play intelligent,
superior Tolkein-inspired black metal, the quality of which is
evident throughout their work. You can play the album by
following this link
http://www.earache.com/mp3s/cd01/cd01.html . In other
Rakoth news, the band enters the studio in June to record their
brand new album, tentatively entitled "Tiny Deaths". The band
promises an overall progression in sound and quality, but will
remain steadfast to the Rakoth ethic. Expect only the finest from
this incredible band. For press packs and interviews contact

***WITHOUT FACE: The female-fronted progressive metallers
from Hungary have now finished work on their brand new album
entitled "Astronomicon" for a release within the next couple of
months. The band have truly excelled themselves with this album,
making an astonishing all-round progression from their debut
album "Deep Inside" (available at www.darksymphonies.com).
They've kept the main ingredients intact and have built upon
those foundations with some skilful, memorable song writing. The
dual male / female vocals are played almost as an additional
instrument, sometimes harmonising, at other times almost at
conflict, but it always works to dazzling effect. The individual
talent on display with the instrumentation is a joy to behold, always
pushing the envelope without resorting to full-on fret / keyboard /
drum wankery. You can download a track here:

available here: www.elitistrecords.co.uk/wfband1.jpg . For press
packs and interviews contact usapr@earache.com (American

***UMBRAL PRESENCE: Elitist is proud to announce the signing
of the Russian avant-garde band Umbral Presence. The band is
essentially a project of Rakoth's Rustam Shakirzyanov, and it
gives him a chance to flex his creative muscles in a more
aggressive and complex way. The as-yet untitled album will be
recorded in September for an early 2003 release. I can give little
away about the musical style at the moment, simply because there
is literally no other band that sound quite like Umbral Presence!
The fusion of styles, tempos and experimentalism will push the
Avant-metal scene further than it was ever thought possible. A
truly demented classic is on its way!

***EPHEL DUATH: The band is presently filming a promo video
for the track "Embossed" in Venice. Respected director
Massimiliano Valli is at the helm, and we've been told to expect
something weird, dark and diverse. Ephel Duath is also hard at
work on the material for their next album, entitled "The Painter's
Palette", a conceptual album based on colour. Each track will
symbolise it's own colour, and the album as a whole will be the full
"painting". More details can be found at www.ephelduath.net .

***FOREST STREAM: The band is still hard at work on their
debut album entitled "Tears Of Mortal Solitude", the first in the
trilogy. Work is expected to be completed in July, when guitarist
Somn has finished his PhD studies in Holland and can return to
his native Russia. The band's aim is to make some of the most
heartfelt and sorrow-filled black metal yet recorded, and if initial
hints of what are to come are anything to go by, this will be no idle
boast. A demo track of the song "Mel Kor" can be found here:
