Late Megadeth drummer Nick Menza’s official YouTube channel, Menza Nation, has been sharing archive footage almost daily. Previously unreleased drum-cam footage of Menza in the studio re-recording the band’s classic song, ‘Train Of Consequences’, can be viewed below. In the opening clip Menza talks about how some of his parts on the Megadeth albums had mistakes.
Menza: ‘Most of my parts on the albums were mistakes that they kept and I had to learn them, kind of fucked up! But you’re only as good as you are on your worst night.’
The clip was filmed during March of 2014 at Uberbeatz Studios in Seattle, Washington, and is believed to be some of the final studio drum recordings of Menza before he passed away more than two years later. The footage was supposed to be used for his first-ever instructional DVD, Intense Mega Drumming, that was to feature 10 re-recorded classic Megadeth drum tracks with tons of tips and tricks from Menza’s arsenal to help teach anybody out there become a better player.
The DVD which has since been shelved and being utilized as part of the 2025 Menza Mega Video Vault web series that will be available for streaming this coming June.”
BayView Entertainment, in partnership with Ellefson Films and Screaming Butterfly Entertainment, have announced a second event for the Nick Menza documentary, This Was My Life, Nick Menza’s Metal Memories With Megadeth And Beyond.
This special event will be held on Thursday, April 17, at Hawthorne Theatre , located at 300 Lafayette Ave, Hawthorne, NJ 07506. Members of the cast and crew will be in attendance for a Q&A session after the screening of the film.
Tickets for the event can be purchased here.
The red carpet premiere event for the documentary was previously announced for Thursday, April 10 at the Laemmle Royal theater in Los Angeles, CA. Located at 11523 Santa Monica Blvd. West L.A., CA 90025. Members of the cast and crew will be in attendance for a Q&A session after the screening of the film.
Tickets for the event can be purchased here.
The film is an in-depth exploration of the life of Nick Menza, the former drummer of Megadeth, and one of the greatest thrash metal drummers of all time. It is a collection of stories from his childhood all the way through to the end of his life, recounted by those who knew him best. The documentary, authorized by the Menza family, will be the first to memorialize the drummer’s legacy.
