I have the latest album of The 3rd and the Mortal...and want to share my dissapointment, damn it - it has nothing to do with the previous recordings - it is like listening to a new band.
Yes, it is a different to everything they did, but that doesn't make it bad. I like it. It's much more better than In this room. I know i miss the guitars too, and first of all Kari's amazing voice, but that's the way it is, but then maybe you don't like that electronic stuff. Well the only thing I'm sure is that i like it, but i understand that you're a bit disappointed with the change.
Time changes...
When I bought "Memoirs" I had mixed emotions...but I guess the record consistently grows on me. There are two or three songs on the album that I think are not so great, but on the whole I really enjoy the new material. I just saw The 3rd And The Mortal live and was totally blown away. The new songs really kick ass when performed on stage, they sound much better than on record.
I think "In This Room" is a good album, but I don't see the point of doing a song like "Sophisticated Vampires". I mean, I can understand that gifted musicians sometimes feel the need to do "something different", but does that have to include singing/playing badly on purpose?!?

that's one reason why i don't like the record. There are a few good songs on it, but that's it. The Album drifts into some sphere of music which i cannot understand, maybe because i do not take drugs ;-)! Though Stream is a good song.
Btw, you saw them live? Cool, well i saw they played a german tour and was thinking about going to the Bochum gig, but forgot the date, hehe.
I would appreciate seeing them live with Kari back on vocals, but the new voices are very good too. The Thin Dark Line is killer song!
