See, I've thought for a long time that the justice system is way too loose. I mean, think about how prosecution first started. The basic principal is that we, as a society, have made a set of rules. Some of these help us, some may stop us from doing thing we may wish to do (i.e. kill someone, steal something, etc.) to benefit others, but mostly each rule is in place for a good reason. So I figure, you gotta obey all of them or none of them. You can't just decide to ignore the rule that says you can't kill people, then demand that your rights to food, freedom, etc. are enforced afterwards. If jails were only policed to the point where no one was allowed to escape, and otherwise people could do what they wanted inside, people would commit less crime. Because frankly, stealing a car or some crap like that isn't worth 2 years of being bummed, beaten and possibly killed.
Does that make any sense or is that a weird rant on a tangent?

If people don't want to be locked up and raped in prison, they should commit an offence in the first place. I have no sympathies for convicts.

Here in America, it's the Christian Conservatives that believe in the Death Penalty, and the Secular Liberals that believe convicts can be "rehabilitated" because "there's something wrong with them"
