Messing with the Free PodFarm

This is the basic one they are giving for free.

My ilok thing doesnt expire it says.....so i assume it will work past tomorrow....lol

This was the Line6 treadplate with the Solo 100 dual tone.

Im thinking about buying the platinum for $199 to get the metal pack...lol

I was messing with podfarm after hearing this and I agree with Xes, to me is useless too. The distortions sound too digital. But you achieved a good tone.

But the problem to me isnt the gain but the sound itself. Sounds too thin, too fizzy and dont have that texture like the real deal. But could be me, maybe I am too noob to work something real good of podfarm.

How you use the dualtone thing? both tones set to mono , and then you pan that mono track (wich have dualtone)? or set one tone to the left and one to the right?

PodFarm free isn't useless at ALL to me, hell! It's FREE, stable and I don't get any appreciable latency when MONITORING through it while taking DI's so I have a near perfect solution to the problem of what to monitor through without getting all stupid with my chain!

It's good enough for monitoring, that's for damn sure.

Instead of using my POD and listening to that through an extra stage of conversion I can just go:

guitar > pro48 > interface > cubase!

Booooom. My buddy and I actually pretty much nailed the Oceano tone a few weeks ago (well, maybe not nailed but it was super similar. We both looked at each other from across the room and were like 'OCEANO! lol) using his Ibanez 7 w/EMG-81-7's which is an amazzzzing sound guitar!

This sounds pretty good to me! Too bad you had to post this... makes me kinda regret that I didn't run down to buy an iLok and get this :) It's always good to have more amp sims at hand!

Good work with the song man.

Hey CJ,

Couple questions. Is there a benefit to running into a D.I. and then into the interface? I've been running my guitar straight into my Firebox.

Will I have a hotter/stronger tone this way?

Also, which model did you use to nail the Oceano tone? I prefer the SLO model so far with Free PodFarm.

thanks

-Joe

I thought it was free into October...You have to have an iLok or a compatible Line 6 device to use as a dongle. If you have purchased add on packs for your xt or whatever, they spill over into PODfarm. Theoretically, if you've bought all the packs and stuff offered, then getting the free PODfarm should have you set up the same as buying platinum.
