I've been editing drums for a couple of weeks straight now and it's starting to get to me, so I had to actually mix something. Found this on the Reaper forums (link here if anyone wants the files), I love the song so I decided to give it a go. I usually suck at this style and probably still do but I kinda like the outcome. Everything is real, I didn't even do any of my usual tricks on bass. Snare and kick are about 50% augmented - snare because the source sucked and I wanted some ring, kick because there was too much leakage. Toms are real, no gates, just awesome.
Only spent a couple hours on this and I probably won't get to finish it, but since I so rarely get a mix like this (rawww) I'd love some comments.
