Metal Church calls it quits

I didn't like their last album much, but I still wanted to hear more. Damn shame.

I'm happy about this, now Vanderhoof can stop tainting this bands' legacy....

That legacy stuff is a bunch of crap. People still want to hear new material from bands and to hear the old classics played live. If you don't like new material from an older band, just ignore it.

And on top of that, their 3 albums with Ronny were quite good.

I'm with Sixx. After "Hanging In The Balance" (which to me it's a great album despite many hate it) I thought the band was gone in a fair way. When they came back with "Masterpeace" (minus Craig Wells) I thought well it's not very good but at least Wayne learnt finally to sing.

Then Kurt went into the Vanderhoof band and to me was alright, MC was resting in peace. Then suddenly the guy starts to put albums out as Metal Church (for obvious marketing needs) but to me was no more than Vanderhoof band by other name. None of the albums that came lately appealed to me at all.

I think that this is for the better and besides I think Vanderhoof is doing a great job with Presto Ballet, so better left MC to rest in that grave from the debut album cover.

That's a matter of opinion... I grew up listening to these guys before you or 90% of the country even knew about them. They were the shit around here. The Wayne era was great and when he left they did just fine with Howe. After that the band simply wasn't the same and nothing more than a poor tribute band. As far as the newer material? I do ignore it!:D

And before this becomes a pissing match of sorts keep in mind it's simply an opinion and taste and if you like this version of the band fine. Remember there are fans of Van Halen with Hagar, the Roth follwers and yes even people that liked the Gary Cherone version of Van Halen!

A bit off-topic (hey Sixx I read the post you deleted). Tomas Bodin keyboardist of The Flower Kings said on his MySpace page that he had to put his new solo album on his own label since SPV went bankrupt. This is:

a) weird since all his solo albums were out through IOMA (Century Media division for prog)
b) really annoying since many bands I like are on SPV or distributed through them now: Angra, Saxon, Blackmore's Night, Motorhead, Freedom Call, Helloween and more I can't recall right now.

On the other hand I went to the SPV website and nothing is mentioned, I even checked some bands of their roster and again not news about it.

I'll appreciate some light on this matter if anyone's knows.
