What are some of the best metal comps??

I have a few that are worth checking out, including

Indentity series (Century Media samplers)

Alone in the dark soundtrack (fairly mainstream two-discs of metal)

Voyager - 10 years of Nuclear Blast

Contaminated - Relapse records sampler series

Doomart.ru collection (Amazing Funeral Doom sampler with some unknown bands pm me for an upload. cheers)

Fear Candy - Terrorizor magazine samplers

Knuckletracks - BWBK magazine samplers

yes

Metal Blade
Cogumelo
something

respectively

edit: the Death Metal comp has Hellhammer, Helloween, Running Wild, and Dark Avenger or some gay name like that (a band that never went anywhere)

i dont listen to comps as there is no need. i posted this somewhere else, but again, it is fairly rare that i dont listen to a whole album as for me it detracts from the experience of the music because i think good music is better in its context. im not saying that i dont enjoy songs on an individual basis, but truly good music is better as a complete artwork.

i could see how metal comps could have been useful in the past, becoming acquainted with bands you hadnt heard of and so on and so forth, but in this day and age, they are redundant for me. comps are for pop music.

I disagree, I have found out about alot of very good bands from Comps. I think they can be essential for discovering truly underground music. I remember hearing an Opeth song on a compilation, which is the way that I got into listening to Opeth  and countless other bands.

BM comps:

Crushing the Holy Trinity
From the Entrails to the Dirt
The Wine Of Satan
Black Legions Projects : Compilation 1995
Tribute to the Black Emperors(Morbid/Mayhem split with Dead's vocs)

Wait Blue_Jay got his ban lifted?.......fuck!

For metal, I like CM's Identity series as well; pretty alright and some of the only comps I bothered with that helped me when I was first got into metal.

For noise, I highly suggest At The End Of The Rope...absolutely the best.
