+1 to the fact James is underrated as a guitarist (purely a guitarist) because he actually plays better than people seem to notice. His bends are precise, his vibrato is nice, he has style and his rythm parts are uber-tight. Exactly the contrary of kirk.
I also think he is the only thing I like in metallica now, excepted I prefer his old voice. His voice now is boring, IMO.

Mario from Gojira is probably one of the most amazing live drummers I have ever seen. I really don't care for Gojira too much as a whole (I need more guitar in my metal) but the drumming is just insane live. It's funny how so many ultra fast tech death metal drummers sound like total dogshit live, Mario really does hold it down hard. Wonder if there is any audio floating around from this.

How the fuck did you manage to fit thrash metal in there man? Have you even listened to Gojira once?
Anyway, bullshit aside, Mario really is an out-of-this-world kind of drummer. Really, for many years Flo Mounier from Cryptopsy was my drummer god but then Mario came in and just fucking steamrolled Flo. Hail Mario! Seen him live too and it's just disgustingly amazing how he plays so solid through each and every song.
Oh and fuck James.
