In the past year I've started studying again, both for qualifications and for my own personal growth as ghey as that mhey sound.
I find most metal is just a distraction when trying to study, but certain bands, in particular Enslaved, are excellent for playing in the background while I work on something.

Has anyone got any others? I hate silence, so gimme something heavy to study to!

I could never study to music, especially decent music. I would always end up concentrating more on the music than the book itself!

judas priest and sabbath worked good for me...anything heavier or faster just makes you blur it out, for me it takes a good level of concentration to actually listen to death/black metal
