Random request, more out of curiousity than anything else

I mean exactly what the title says; however, as I am predicting a lot of melodeath, try to avoid that sort of thing in favor for quirkier recs if possible. Also, don't bother posting Opeth or Lykathea Aflame :p

Interested to see what crops up itt

Well, some of the stuff on Drudkh's Estrangement is kinda like that. To me anyway...

Gris too. Although they shift between a sad and "beautiful" sound. Like a "balance of depression and joy," as listed in the lyrical theme part of their MA page.

That's all I got man. :erk:

Burzum, Nokturnal Mortum, that kind of stuff of course.

I'd also honestly consider certain Metallica songs beautiful. Songs like Battery and Fight Fire With Fire, present this big, lumbering electric assault, and to me it's like the epitome of brute force electric beauty. Metallica has this tough guy image but that's not how I see them. After all, post-KEA they were more prog and artsy than their fellow mainstream thrash bands, not to mention softer.

Wow.

I'm gonna go with Negură Bunget's OM.

At the very least he has a point that they attempted to add beauty to their music more than their competition, who were mostly about sheer speed and brutality. The middle section of Orion is pure artistic sex and gets my vote for most beautiful metal song.

Some of what you consider "beautiful" surprises me. You need to try Maudlin of the Well. I'd suggest the Bath and/or Leaving Your Body Map albums.
