Metallica and King Diamond footage

In an effort to try to rebuild their metal credibilty Metallica had King Diamond join them on stage for some Mercy classics...
Hope King sells some records as a result. He moves around pretty well, I hope he's able to tour soon...

Sadly, this will be the only performing King may be able to do this year. He's still suffering from his back injury, sadly. Sucks too, since I was really looking forward to the co-headlining tour with Kreator.

King sounds fucking awesome. Love those Fate tunes! And James nails the riffs. Might be the single coolest thing Metallica has done in 10 years! Very. Fucking. Metal.

The entire Ozzfest show was pro-shot, but we know how those things get butchered up... I hope to get this gets released on DVD.

That's a pretty special occasion so I'm sure it'll get released somewhere, either on a Metallica or Ozzfest DVD. If it turns out that's all I'm interested in on that DVD, I'll just rent it from netflix and rip that one section with KD in it. :D

Awesome! MetallicA definitely earned Respect points on this feat. I am proud of them for taking the effort to be metal again, embrace their roots, and remembered some places from where they came from. Now the next step is the new record, Sep 12th.

Right. We know this, I was thinking of him being back in action in 2009....

With any luck, indeed. :kickass:

After watching the footage, I'm not entirely sure that King could hear himself in the monitors seeing that he was singing off key at a couple of points during the performance. Also, James' background vocals were mixed much louder than King's. At times, I wanted to reach through the screen, slap James and say, "Shut up! King is singing!" :)

Wow, King Diamond looks so freaking awesome in that performance. I'm jealous. I rarely find anyone who actually looks cool but King Diamond nailed it here.

Probably is my imagination but I don't see songs from "Load", "Reload" or "St. Anger", what's the matter they don't have confidence in the potential of those songs live, not even the 'Unforgiven' saga? :heh:

I doubt they don't have confidence. They've played songs from those three albums on the past tours. They're probably in the groove of the old stuff

Except for the new song, the set list looks like it's straight out of 1991! They've been sneaking in a couple of Load songs in their other 2008 shows, but they've been mostly sticking to the classics. Maybe they're copying the approach Maiden took on their last tour???

I wonder what % of the fans at that show know who King Diamond is (especially without the facepaint).
