Had a couple of rough semesters at school and switched computers since I downloaded this. Finally finished it today. Thanks again for the DI's, akarawd!

ArsMemoria, you're more than welcome for the DIs :)
I like the rawness on your take, only there's audible pumping I think.

Hi, guys. I really liked the playing on this one and decided to give it a try. Please, take a listen and tell me what do you think.

Sounds really good Dobri, especially the drum sound :) The guitars might have a bit more lowend than what needed but the mids are great, so good job !

Cheers guys

Thanks for the comment. Btw I was wondering, is it just me, or are the guitars tuned in between two notes?

Thanks man. Just curious where you're hearing the audible pumping: the whole mix? Drums? That's been one of the bigger criticisms I've gotten on mixes here at school and I really want to work on that.

The pumping, no, it seems like it's on the whole thing.

Are you limiting too hard ? Maybe try 2-3 dBs of gain reduction on your mix buss compressor and limiter ? Once you have that going , try different release settings to avoid it altogether. If it's still happening then the compressor/limiter might be reacting to a frequency imbalance ... perhaps too much low end ?

ArsMemoria, I know your question is not directed to me but if you are actually studying mixing, I will share my humble opinion.
First of all pumping is the tendency of compressors to overreact to low frequency sounds and thus lower the volume of other higher frequency content. No matter what you do, you will always get some amount of pumping at least in the very last stage of your mastering. In the case of your mix, I personally don't hear that pumping per se is the actual problem, though there is definitely more of it than there should be. Imho the biggest issue is that the low end is not well controlled and that there is too much of it. If you would create more separation in the low end most of the pumping will naturally disappear. To me the biggest issue is the kick drum. Also I am honestly hearing a ton of stereo phase weirdness in the low end. Given the fact that it is extremely unlikely that you actually made the bass guitar into stereo on purpose, then my guess is that the guitar will be better with a bit of Mid/Stereo processing or generally removing low end from them. Also the bass by itself sounds uncontrolled to me. So here are my advices:
1. Create more space in the low end by EQing out about 6-12 db (medium Q) cumulatively on the kick, bass and guitars.
2. Add between 2 and 6 db of compression to the bass guitar.
3. Try some sidechaining compression on the bass, using the kick as a trigger if the previous steps are not enough.
4. Add (more) multiband compression in the low end if the previous steps are not enough.
5. Add some high pass sidechain to your mix bus (or sub busses).
