Metallica's Equipment throughout the years

It's bizarre to read all that about James' rhythm tone - he seems to at least kinda know his stuff (e.g. talking about desirable phase cancellations), or if nothing else he talks a good game, but it's a pity that all those amps, experimentation, and mics still combine to make a wholly unpleasing tone to my ears (especially on Justice, sweet Jesus, reading all that crap about the effort they went almost made me start to like the tone, until I actually had a quick listen as a refresher and threw up a little at the first woofs of my speakers on the low palm mutes).

that was the most insightful thing ive read in a long time :)

haha..

'The Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifiers onstage are just for show and are not used.' :Smug:

and have a look at the second photo in kirks live set up for the st anger era- is that a behringer gate? :OMG::yuk:

that would be so nice if it was your job to get to play with all that gear.....never having to stop to go to a 9 to 5. it would be great if you were at the practice place and you had hundreds of amp/cab combinations to play with and not here " ok you're gonna have to rap it up, we're closing in 10 mins"

i must be the only person in the world who loves the way that album sounds...
