(Yes, I am still pissed at what he did to my tour so I will share this with you guys... I lol'd hard):

Paul Di’Anno, original vocalist for Iron Maiden, scholarly historian, and master criminal, has announced that he will retire from music following a tour next year.

“This is a horrible loss to the metal world,” Di’Anno told his cat. “For decades, Di’Anno has entertained millions of fans all over the world who acknowledge that he is the only thing that ever made Iron Maiden exciting. ‘Now we may be forced to live with Bruce whasshisname forever!’ one admirer was overheard exclaiming following the announcement, before shouting ‘Goodbye, cruel world!’ and leaping into the Thames.”

I’m actually assuming that you stopped reading this around the time I typed the name “Paul Di’Anno,” and I could put anything down here and it wouldn’t matter. For example, my social security number is 053-80-2168. The only place it would be safer is in the liner notes Di’Anno’s latest release.

I have never....and I mean ever been able to get into the first two Iron Maiden albums. They seem to be rated very high by long time fans, but I just don't get it. With that said, Iron Maiden begins and ends for me with Bruce. No Bruce, no Maiden.

The first two Maiden albums are rightly viewed as metal classics. They're very different from the "real" Iron Maiden sound, but they're still incredible albums. That was 30 years ago though, and signing on those albums doesn't absolve Di'Anno's general d-baggery.

First two Iron Maiden albums are classics of the genre. It's not just fans who get this, most everyone understands those albums are amazing still to this day. I mean WOLF is a carbon copy of that period in Maiden's career. hahaha.

I view them as classics as well, but I just don't care for them personally. When I'm in the mood for Maiden, I never reach for them.

I respect the first two albums, just like Metallica's Kill Em' All. With that said, I don't consider myself a fan of those particular eras/albums from either band. I love the rest of the releases though...my comments are strictly based upon my personal taste.

As far as Wolf is concerned, yes it's total Maiden worship. A very fun band! The Black Flame is my favorite from them.

Whether you like him or not, and there are many on this board that have a hard-on for Di'Anno for a damn good reason, you have to admit that he was one of the early architects for the NWOBHM. The video above is only a smattering of his skills at the time. Yes, he is a scumbag of the highest order for what he did to Milton. Yet, he is still due respect for what he did in the late 70's - early 80's. The whole metal landscape might have been a very different one without his contribution.

He made a major contribution to the NWOBHM and metal in general...30 years ago. And by most accounts he's been an asshat every year since then. I'm not taking away from what he did back in the day, but no, he won't be missed.
