Metronome

For my own bands stuff we change the time signature to 1/4 - gets rid of the emphasis, seems to work better for everybody.

Yeah I do this with my band also, almost all our songs are the same tempo but they are constantly changing from 4/4 to 3/4, or triplets sometimes instead of the 3/4, triplets although they are still 4/4 seem to get confusing with the emphasis on, so we do it all single click

You guys all make very valid points, indeed loose but tight, swing hip hop metal whatever the key is to prepare months before entering the studio.

All the guys that are good already know it,and are most definitively in favour of click, the ones that completely freak me out,are the one's who lay down the song to just a click,i find that a real talent and bloody freaky.

I'll just +1 everyones post.

But I'm still curious as to why some can't play with the accented first count?
That really makes it easier (for me at least).

My favourite metronome was one that had a cymbal sound to it... god i miss that one. I usually can't keep to a *blop* sound, but I am pretty good at keeping to a snare or a cymbal sound.

My best advice is: do not try to listen to the click, just feel it. Be persistent and one day you will wake up and will be able to follow the click without thinking about it.

I used to of the mindset that a click wasn't 100% necessary if the musicians were tight but if they are tight there's no reason not to use a click. Metronome ftw. I hate it when drummers don't want the downbeat accented. Those are th guys that always end up one beat off the click 45 seconds into a track.

Effing ayee. I regret i didnt start of with metronome in the first place. This is the weird thing here, i find it much easier to play on a faster tempo. Thats weird! the reason why i started with metronome is because of recording. damn it does sound sloppy without a click! arghh07(*&!# ill go mental with metronome. I realize that recording to a click kills the feel to it. im sure its just me as im not used to it but i hope time and practise can change that.. :cross fingers:

click from cubase sounds much clearer IMO. ive tried sonar, reaper even sonic acid's build in metronome doesnt sound that clear and good to the ears as well.
