im not sure if i really neep a mic preamp. I hear a lot of people talk about them.
I just want to make demos for my band, nothing fancy. can i get away without one?

yea, you don't really need them. they are expensive as fuck and they dont really do shit. they dont add anything to ur mic signal but volume, who needs that in todays world?

in any case, yes, a mic pre is a PHYSICAL NECESSITY! get one!

you can get a cheap presonus tube pre for like 99 bux. . . you're gonna need it for life!

What, pray tell, do you plan on plugging the microphone(s) into? Onboard soundcard of your PC?

This is the cheapest solution I can think of (assuming you have a firewire port on your PC) if you want to record an entire band and make mega rough scratch demos.

Bear in mind, that deck is only $460, and it is definitely cheap stuff but it will do the job in a pinch. Your band could each kick in 100 bucks.
