This goth metal band from LA just posted this bulletin on myspace.

" Good news about your habit!!!!
Current mood: anxious
Category: Parties and Nightlife

According to www.theantidrug.com it seems that
teens that do drugs have 5 five times the odds of getting laid than ateens that don't....so cheers!!!!!!!!"

Shouldn't they have said "here's the stats but we don't condone drug use among teens"?

I let them know what f*&^ing boneheads they are before I hit the delete button. I wonder if they also condone sharing needles before sex.

He wrote me back on myspace telling me I'm the reason this country is so f*&^ed up, and said I was shooting the messenger. I replied "so cheers!!!" he sounded so concerned in the original post LOL. He screwed up and is looking for a way out of it. The reason our youth is so screwed up is from listening to bands like his, or rap that condones violence. It's ok to write songs about violence or drugs to try to send the right message, but don't condone it in your music, or words.

I really don't want to hurt your feelings, but Bull-FUCKING-shit! Listening to ANY kinda music and ANY kinda lyrics does not make you a serial killer,a dangerous drug abuser or other criminal! I've listened to several different kinda musics when I was a teenager, some of them had REALLY bad lyrics, about condoning alcohol and drugs, having unprotected sex,and fuck if I remember what else, and I NEVER,EVER tried ANY kinda drugs - though I had the opportunity to do it, several times - until I was 30! It's all about good parenting! This is what the youth of today is lacking. And of course the other main reason why is today's youth are fucked up,it's this unbelievably stupid drinking age limit! I grew up in a so-called ex-communist country, and there was no such thing as drinking age there.I was 13 when I decided to try alcohol at the first time, what did I do? I simply walked into a pub, they served me without a question, and after 5 or 6 shots,I was piss-ass drunk.I was so sick after that I wouldn't even want to HEAR to word "alcohol" for a long time.Pretty hassle-free experience, isn't it? Now go and try to do THAT in the "land of the FREE"!!! I love this country (USA) so much, but this stupid law pisses the fuck out of me! Until you're 21 you can't buy alcohol legally, but you can buy a fucking GUN?! What did they expect when they made a law like this?! And what do they expect a teenager will do,when he want to go partying? He can't buy drinks,of course he's not gonna ask his parents to buy some,'cos it's "not cool",so what he's gonna do? Go to the drug dealer,'cos he's not gonna ask for his fuckin' ID!!! THIS is why today's kids are fucked up,not the music they listen to!!!:mad::mad:

I suppose these little gangsta rap types with the bad attitudes just became that way because of evolution? or because they listen to stuff like 50 Cent and NWA?

Kids are susceptible to become what they worship, and in a lot of cases they try to become what the music stands for. Remember, not all kids have good parenting leading the way.

I have to agree with EOG. It's not just music that's leading kids down the wrong path. That's like saying watching horror movies all the time is going to turn you into a killer. To quote Scream, "Movies don't create psychos, movies make psychos more creative." Same applies to music, video games, books etc. Kids do not have bad attitudes just because they listen to rap, it's probably more to do with how they were brought up and who they hang about with. Reversing the stereotype means that because I grew up listening to metal and rock, I should be an unemployed alcoholic junkie. The stereotypes work both ways.

Just for the record:I REALLY hate those gangsta-rap monkeys, but I still don't think it's their fault. It's all about good parenting, and manners. Most of the teenagers today are seriously lacking both of them.

That is the point not all kids have good parenting but then it's not the bands fault either. It's not like they're holding a gun to these kids head and saying hey do drugs drink KILL PEOPLE. I listened to everything from slayer to nwa growing up I didn't have the best parents I am not a druggie I've never taken a sip of alcohol before 21 and sometimes not even then and I have never killed someone or felt the urge to join a gang. Though many I know have. It's all about the choice these kids know the difference between right and wrong they know that there choices have consequences and they decided to do it anyway. They make the choice to do it the music doesn't have anything to do with it. Yes granted some kids try to act out what there idols do but they still see what these so called "idols" are going through with there choices so yet again it falls upon the kid to make the choice.
