Today is Midsummer's Eve. Being drunk this day is a requirement for keeping one's citizenship in Sweden. I'd recommend everyone to start drinking - now - and celebrate this fine day.

GLAD MIDSOMMAR!!!

he, belgar, you won't get a decent beer in america anyways! ;) Terug naar belgie! :)

Indeed they are!

Anyway, now it's 5 AM, and I am slightly sobering up (slightly - excuse all spleleing erros et.c.) after a very nice evening. I have been drinking excessive amounts of as well beer as coffee (I was dying around 6 PM, and had to wake up...). I have also come to the conclusion that I am an idiot and should not be allowed to meet other people.

So how's midsummer's eve been for all you other people? Has my post inspired anyone outside of Sweden to do something boozy or? If your sober and reading this, I hope your ashamed of yourself!

\r And AoD, that ain't Swedish, I s'åpose it's some crappy belgian or somthing :dopey: ;)

we have a similar saying in german (at least here in austria):

"bier auf wein, laß das sein, wein auf bier, das rat' ich dir"

translates loosely to: "wine followed by beer, let it be, beer followed by wine, i recommend that to you"

crappy translation, probably not even funny, it just cracked me up that they have a similar saying in dutch! :)

Hehe, I know there's no such thing as "Belgian", I was just trying to annoy you :p

I didn't know the English name for Dutch, though, silly me. Anyway, Dutch is a strange language, it's like a mix between Swedish, English and German, all of which I know to an extent. Whenever I hear Dutch spoken or see it written, I get an eerie feeling I really should know what it means.

i have to add "beer before liquor, never been sicker. liquor before beer, in the clear" to this wisdom.

Wow now it s 1.21 pm Saturday. I just woke up from my slumber, we partied hard last night with the guys of Grave and Immolation, solid swedish can drink. I started with 2 bush beer, then a guinness after I had a shot of apple vodka with cinammon later I had 2 more Guinness, a buddy of mine brought some Jäger I had a shot then another shot with a buddy of mine. I then switched to Bush again. Again 2 more shots of Jäger and a Bush. I talked to the guys of Grave since they are from Sweden about MidSummer and they started laughing syain how do you that ? cheers to you. In the mix add some pizza and pasta and hmmmm still I didn't puke
I started feeling dizzy and went to my car, woke up in my car around 6am with a Guinness in my hands finished it, went inside (everybody was gone except for 3 people) I then passed out until 10.50 then drove home and now just woke up. I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed midsummer. Now I have to wait for a buddy and go watch the Hulk and later tonight is the big Grave concert and more beer. I still feel like shit as I speak.
And yeah dutch is a strange language, knowing it doesnt help me much in Florida where all you have are solid mexicans. Flieshwolf, are you from Belgie too? Dutch is spoken differently in Belgium the dutch in The Netherlands are rolling the "r" like you would in Swedish but even worse than that. The accent is slighly different too. It s always good to refresh my dutch memory but I live in the french speaking part of Hellgium but right on the border with Flanders so I grew up with both languages.

no i'm not! helemaal oostenrijks! i just speak dutch because i happened to spend some time in holland and know a lot of dutch guys!

belgar, i didn't know that you are from wallonia. i always thought walloons suck at speaking dutch! ;)

Not all do, but many think that just like old times french is superior to dutch, check history. On the other hand, I admire the people from Flanders for usually making the effort to learn french and speak it better than the walloons do. Since I grew up on the border it was easier for me and I have always had an interest in foreign languages and people's culture in general so I don't mind speaking dutch, although I lost quite a bit from being in Florida. Whenever I get a chance I ll speak it even if it is filled with mistakes. :)
