Not only are vs. threads retarded, but this comparison is pointless. They don't even play the same style of music. Personally I prefer Åkerfeldt because Cynic has only released one album so far.

Actually, if things are different, it makes more sense to compare them - if they were the same, there wouldn't be a need for that.

Masvidal's made one great album, but Mike's made shitloads of them.

Actually, if things are different, it makes more sense to compare them - if they were the same, there wouldn't be a need for that.

My point is this is a comparison between a band (or a person from the band in this case) that has been well established and has released several albums and a band (well, one guy again) who has made one album. I don't see much of a purpose.

I can't choose between Paul and Mikael because I like them so much. Paul did do that Aeon Spoke stuff which was kinda garbage. Also Jason Gobel said he did some writing for Focus.

To get down to it, I just can't choose.

Opeth has way more experiance points than Cynic, even though Cynic is cool they seemed more like a quick side project compared to a monster band like Opeth.

1 great album vs 8 great and some flawless ones. Maybe if the ratio was remotely close some kind of comparison could be made. I don't love focus anywhere near any of the Opeth releases anyway tbh and imo in terms of metal Mike is a far better song writer than pretty much anyone within metal. So no comparison can really be made at all. Mike...no contest. It's like Mike vs Fredrik Thordendal as a solo artist, while Sol Niger within is amazing, its only one release, although that does compare with some of Opeth's albums imo.
