Misanthropy began with Jamie Gallo (Gales of Avalon, Orphan Hammer) and Kevin Briggeman jamming in the Gallo basement in summer of 1999. Kevin Briggeman would soon convince friend James Neill (Gales of Avalon) to join and play bass. From there Misanthropy was born.
We recorded a very sloppy 8 song live demo, in the Gallo basement using a webcam and the stock sound recorder function found on all '01 PC's. While recording another very sloppy, 11 track, live demo in 2002 Misanthropy enlisted life long friend Cody Shypitka to front the band as the lead vocalist.
Misanthropy went on for another 3-4 years before members James Neill and Jamie Gallo moved to Calgary, and Kevin Briggeman moved to Kelowna. In 2008 Briggeman, Neill and Gallo got back together and recorded another round of the Misanthropy songs with Neill on Vocals.
Being 2011 now, it has been a long time since anything has been going in the Misanthropy Camp, but we have been jamming regularly for the past month and a bit. And two weeks ago our good friend Mark Dillon (Gales of Avalon/Vinland Radio) came down and recorded, mixed, and mastered a few of our songs from jam.... And I figured why not share the results with you!!
I have uploaded 2 new tracks, "Ancient Sanctuary," and "The Kings of Forest Lawn."
More news to be coming soon, who knows.... Misanthropy might end up playing a show sometime??!!
