Hi!
I'm new to this just got myself DFHS... And I've heard people around this forum that made some good results w/ DFHS...

Are there any, or have been... threads about mixing DFHS? Some tutorials or mixguide? for eq and comp every drumchannel and so on... paralell compression...

thanx! :notworthy

Nope. None that I remember.

The good thing about DFHS is that it sounds like a real drumset and therefore you should mix it like a real drumset ...

It'll sound different in the context of each song anyway ...

A good thing to start with two is one of the project files provided by toontrack, host-specific of course. I still import the tracks from the protools session whenever I add dfhs to a mix as a time-save, then tweak the panning a little here and there. That should get everything in the position you want it. Velocities are your next thing of course. Another thing I find really useful for the "human" sound is to program fills/kick/snare and all the things that are usually really solid in a recording, and then play the cymbals and hi-hat in with a midi control. Some beats, like blasts, will also benefit from having the snare played in. This gives a great feel, especially on blasts as it gives a realistic velocity variation and its all just the tiniest bit out.

Mixing-wise if you're after a tutorial try looking at the "settings" pdfs you can get off the toontrack website for one of the demo songs that you fuond similar to what you want. Even if you don't have the waves plugins they used, the EQ should get you in the spot a little, and you can always a compressor you DO have to get that happening.
