Just tried this SansAmp pedal emulation, tried some tweaking and finally found the best lead tone I've ever heard from a VST plugin.

Guitar used is a cheap Cort KX-5, added LeCab with Catharsis s-preshigh (150 hz HPF and 6.00 khz HPF) and some delay and reverb plugins at the end.

It's a nice plugin, but I think it has speaker simulation built in (it sounds like simple filters), so adding impulses after it shouldn't be a good idea, although it doesn't sound too bad.
