Monitors for 200-350 usd?

If you do have to work in a cube, seriously look into helmholtz resonators. There's simply no other way you're going to get a decent low freq. response without making it completely dead.

I was thinking that, in a room with identical dimensions and no treatment the frequency response will be bumpier than a teenagers face and thus pretty much useless. Either get treatment or get headphones.

It'll be horrible naturally, but it's actually one of the few situations that lends itself to really narrow tuned traps as in a cube you will actually have less problems than your average room, but the problems you have will be FAR worse. If you see what i mean.....
