mono to stereo profire 2626 question

Hello, I'm trying to record vocals with my profre 2626, and i'm trying to figure out a way to record the vocals in stereo as all the inputs are mono. I tried routing it through the dsp hard left on 5, and hard right on 6 in which in the dsp it looks like it works, but when I listen back in cubase it's still mono, and the stereo output on Cubase just shows a mono signal. Help?

Why? Your voice is a mono source?

Well when I used to record with my toneport everything was stereo. I thought that was the standard anyway.

Nah, vocals are a mono source usually, i.e. single mic is mono.

So just having the vocals panned hard left, or right should be fine? It seem's like in most songs the vocals are centered.

one mono vocal track right up the center is fine.

Record to a mono track in cubase. Don't use a stereo track.

yeah you should always a record a mono source in mono, then work out whatever panning you want in the mix. If you recorded only one vocal track, up center is the normal way to go
