Oh yeah! Montrose kicks ass. Paper Money was good, but the first album is godly. For an album that's over 30 years old, it sure gets alot of play time in my hallowed halls. Listened to it last month in fact, while camping in Montana.

Excellent Timeless album! I got a chance to see Ronnie play live with Rail in the early 90's... Great show!

Ronnie Montrose and Rail? Were they playing at the same venue that night? Can't imagine Montrose really being close to a small-time band like Rail. Not to mention Ronnie was writing progressive instrumental albums during that time period, nothing remotely metal at all. Neil Ricketts and I met Montrose once in 1993 when he played in Tempe with Alan Holdsworth. I still got his autograph on my ticket stub. He was a very cool guy.

I liked the album when i first bought/heard it but nowadays it bores me.. but then again i haven't heard it in ages.. since i lost it.. i should rebuy it if for nothing just to add to my collection... and give it a listen again...

Well I'll be damned and horn-swaggled. Now that I think about it, Ricketts might have mentioned that fact on the way to that show in '93, but it had completely left my mind until now. Hard to picture Ronnie in Rail, he was so much older than them, but they were probably on the same label or had the same management company or something. Still, pretty cool deal and you got to see it! Not many can claim that, I'm sure.

On a related note. (pun intended ) If you have never heard of Rail you might want to check out their debut album 'Arrival'. Great melodic hard rock!

No doubt, if you like hard rock, Rail did it just about as good as anyone back in the day. That's probably why they won MTV's inaugural "Basement Tapes" competition. And folks, hear me I beg, MTV was actually pretty cool back in those days. Rail's debut album, Arrival, is a true gem for me.
