More Pop Powermetalised

Found a really cool power metal cover of Ultravox's The Voice by the Italian band The Prowlers. Yes they were an Iron Maiden tribute band originally. Anyway the cover is just awesome and the song lends itself to power metal very well. Actually the original song from Ultravox is great and probably better than this.

:OMG: wow I actually like this one the most!! :Spin::Spin::Spin:

Ok discovered some amazing covers by Tommy Johansson of ReinXeed. Gods knows where on earth these came from cause they are not the albums but they are stunning! I guess Tommy has a lot of time on his hands and loves pop music more than you can imagine!

btw this isn't pop but Tommy does an amazing cover of Sabaton's Primo Victoria. If you don't like Joacim's rough vocals then you can hear Tommy's smoother version here. I think I like Sabaton's better but Tommy's version is also awesome.

Sorry back again with more Tommy! This time covering one of my all time favourite songs Burning Heart from Survivor. I still like the original with Jimi Jamison singing more but Tommy's high pitched smoother vocals are still very nice and you can't beat the awesome melody of the song and I like it when it speeds up into power metal tempo towards the end.

This one fits squarely into this thread. Lord covering Kylie Minogue's On a Night Like This.

Some great pop covers mentioned in this thread ... Vision Divine's "Take on Me", Avalon's "Kyrie".

You can't go wrong with Blind Guardian's gover of the Chordettes' "Mr. Sandman" or Squealer's remake of "Enjoy the Silence" by Depeche Mode (I suppose that's not exactly pop). Sonata Arctica's "Wind Beneath My Wings" is probably one my favorite covers ever.

However, I think the pop cover that takes the cake is Lemur Voice's version of "Beat It". Those beatnickey jazzy breaks they effortlessly injected ... brilliant.

My favorite cover of "Beat It" is the one performed by MANITOU.

The Yngwie version is an absolute pile of steaming hot shit!

There's a good probability that the track "Where The Wild Roses Grow" on Kamelot's new album is a cover of the song by Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue.... :)

Some of my favorite metal covers are of film scores:

Epica - The Imperial March (Star Wars), Spider-Man Theme, Pirates of the Caribbean
Nightwish - Crimson Tide Deep Blue Sea (Roll Tide by Hans Zimmer, from Crimson Tide)
Northern Kings - Training Montage (from Rocky IV)

Oh, and then there's Atrocity, AKA Leaves' Eyes' alter ego, and their two albums of 80's covers which you guys would probably hate. I like them though :D
