Anyone know how to get basic plugins to work with Firefox? (java, Shockwave, etc). I'm not a software guru. When I download Java VM, for example, during installation it lists your browsers for you to choose which one to install JVM to. Firefox is either not detected or not supported, it's not on the list....

What? Sorry, there's no "Firefox specific version" of either. What you need to do is get the MOZILLA versions and then run the install scripts, or just copy the libflashplayer.so (this probably ends with .dll if you're running Windows) and flashplayer.xpt files into your firefox/plugins directory. Java is kind of the same. It's not hard.

When I installed the precompiled version of Firefox, it already came with Flash. I still haven't got round to installing a Java plugin yet.
