me and my guys from EDEN CIRCUS decided to give away the files of the studio session for our latest single 'her lovely hands upon the black earth'.

the archive (1,6gb) includes all the tracks edited & digitally unprocessed (no eq, comp, fx, etc.). we also added all line signals in case you're the reampin' guy...

cool song and nice production. went for a baressi kind of vibe with the mix. such a dynamic song needs much more automation to really come alive....

Damn this is a good one. I was in fact overwhelmed by the number of guitars. I removed several, i'll go again check if I removed too many (there is a blank passage in my mix). I mixed on cans at night so today I feel there is a lot to be improved, but here you go anyway. I might decide finally to blend some samples for the kick and snare but I tried to go for a full organic approach at first. I didn't even use a bass DI, but will go back to that.

EDIT : the song is mixed low on purpose. I didn't wanna push to -8 RMS. It's at -12 or something, so bring the volume a little up !

Sounds pretty good ! Makes me realize I have been very light on the drums processing ! They are all natural ?

only a sample blended on the kick because I wanted a slightly longer decay than what the mic had. used ssl duende for the individual tracks, as well as some extra logic eq for the toms and to remove resonances in the overheads.

then metric halo on busses for additional smack, and parallel compression/distortion. I think I distorted some of the room mics too just to really make the room sound big.

I was just gonna ask you if that was the SSL channelstrip, it has this special "thump" sound that I only find using this plugin ! I should start trying to use it again

MetalStudio - Great mix mate, sounds just like I think it should, couldn't find a fault, plenty of power and clarity, good stuff. Best one I've heard. And op, thanks again for the great tracks, was never gonna match the quality of the original mix but had to have a go.
