Any other Michiganders here? Let's use this thread as a general notice of events/bands. I'd usually count on facebook for this kind of thing but all my friends have been sucking dubstep's cock for the last year or two :puke:

Sad to see people put down their guitars and drag out the turntables. Hoping that fad dies soon.

Anyways post cool stuff. Just went to a tribute show for Hawley, a guy pretty big on the local scene for awhile who passed away. Great show, great times, and I hear they raised a great amount of money for charity. Michigan metal is not yet dead!

I will say I'm pissed Clutch with The Sword was sold out before I could get tickets.

Dubstep is good, my pals.

Are you counting Burial as dubstep when you say this? If so, I'd be inclined to agree with you. If not, I must ask if you fulfill the minimum age requirement of this subforum (I believe 15 was the last figure agreed upon?)

About 5% of dubstep is good. Granted, 5% of the artist base for dubstep probably outnumbers the entire tech death artist base.

Ha! Aint that the fuckin truth. Everyone and their uncle thinks they're a dj nowadays.

I'm from Wayne.

Michigan has a decent metal scene. Acid Witch, Shitfucker, Sauron, Borrowed Time, Wastelander, etc. I need to pay more attention to the shows in the area though.

Oh right on man. I'm usually in the St Clair Shores area, so more interested in metro detroit shows. You're near Ann Arbor, I thought there was always a lot of shit goin on there.

Also fuck Grand Rapids for having awesome shows all the time that I can't make it to.

Hey Carpe, we should totally hit up a... oh no wait, you wouldn't want to reveal your gender, would you? :p

:fu:

Yeah I posted vocal samples and changed my lame christmas pic so cat's out the bag.

No thanks to you not minding your own business! :fu:

Yeah, there probably is, but I don't pay much attention to what happens. I mean to, but the girl at my school who always kept me up to date on all the shows in the area isn't in any of my classes this semester so :( time to do my own footwork

Yes, fuck. I don't know why they'd hit up Grand Rapids over the Detroit area...

Also fuck Cleveland and Columbus for getting shows while Michigan gets routinely skipped over :(

I've found, though, that using songkick is a really useful way to find out about some shows, but it tends to be bigger names so smaller local bands still need to be looked into

Oh no shit on that songkick, think I'm gonna sign up. Saves me having every venue on facebook haha. Gets annoying sometimes.
