Hi,

Just wanted to get feedback on this. It's from an album I'm currently mixing and I only have a very short time to mix it and there are tons of tracks and the recordings are far from perfect sometimes but I think the song is great and the singer is awesome.

It could be cool to have some external input. I think the vocals are a bit on the bright side, I like it but maybe it's too much? What do you think of this mix? It's unmastered.

Hey Heabow,

it's pretty good so far. Some things to consider:

1. Vocals need some de-essing or volume automation. ''s'' and ''t'' stick out too much.
2. You can really hear that compressor working on her vocals. That can be a taste thing, but in my opinion it fit the song better if there was a smoother compression (you could try dividing the work into more compressor instances).
3. The panning effect in the prechorus draws my attention instantly away from the vocals. If that was your intention: well done. But it felt kind of weird to me, don't know why. Just a gut instinct.

Cheers!

Thanks a lot man for your time and your opinion. Although I really like bright vocals in that genre I also think the vocals need de-essing. And you're right, you can really hear the compressors working but it's a personal choice tbh. I love the way it sounds hehe :) It'll be a bit less obvious with less bright voices I guess. Good point on the prechorus, I'll look into that.

Other than that and after listening this mix in various environment, I found the low end work is not bad but I'd tend to add more guitars, just a touch. It's more obvious on the other songs tho than this one.

I like your song a lot. The mix sounds really good and synths filled all frecuencies, i love it. Maybe kickdrum needs more beater, and snare EQ need more high-end for my taste.

Nice job!

I finished the mix and the mastering of this album 2 days ago and I'd like to share a clip with you guys before final validation. I had only 7 days to reamp/mix/master 11 songs so it's not perfect but I think it's not bad either :) http://we.tl/KNyJQWS1Ka
