i was wrong about this band, but didnt realize it until now. maybe its the mood or time-in-my-life stuff, but The Light at the End of the World is great. 34% Complete has some FANTASTIC songs. TLtS is better than I remember. I enjoyed As the FLower Withers, and Like Gods of the Sun.

Im listening to The Dreadful Hours right now for the first time in probably 5 years. I used to love the shit out of this album. Boy, is this bringing back memories.

My intro to MDB was actually their live album "Voice of The Wretched" which I got from a used bin like 6 years ago. Its a great live album. At the time, it was unlike anything I had heard before. lol

MDB has been using keys in place of the violin since Martin Powell left the band in the 90's. Like Gods of the Suns is the last album in which you can hear genuine violin, which pisses me off.

"Edenbeast" is just so damn good.

34% Complete is better than people like to admit (except for Heroin Chic)

Yeh, on Sinamorata the only old track they play is The cry of mankind from memory and it sounds crap without real violin

The First dvd is worth a listen to which was originally a tape i think, it has Martin Powell on it. It is from the Angel and the Dark River era.

I only have Turn Loose the Swans and A Map of All Our Failures but damn... both are pretty stellar.

Foolishly enough, my screensaver is a tribute to this other album anyhow:

I remember buying and selling Like Gods of the Sun a number of times in some kind of bargain bin craze ("hey nice butterly", "hey didn't I like about two and a half songs on there?"...). Can't find it in my collection these days.

try this by the bloke that did the thing yknow

and buy the tape

this is clearly a hundred times better than anything my dying bride has done in at least twenty years

band name is a bit shit, tho

EDIT: lmao when i said "at least twenty years" i had no idea that the guy had actually left my dying bride in 1999, had to look that up. there you go then.
