Hicktown New York.
This is the first time I've ever really recorded anything and tried mixing it.
Its not completely finished yet I still wanna automate some stuff and add some effects and obviously its not a full song just a clip but....

I just want to get some opinions on what I've done so far before I waste any more time.

Please be br00tally honest and tell me everything that's wrong with it.

And if you need any info I'll be sure to answer any questions ::wave:

Oh and ps there's no bass only because my friend who plays bass couldn't come record so thats something thats obviously lacking..

it's really not bad for a first mix dude.

the china is far too robotic/loud. kick could use some work, snare is really buried and guitar tone is a little dark for my liking

Yeah I just noticed that that china was too loud and was pressing the limiter on the master bus so Im gonna turn it down alot.

The Guitars were in B so I assumed darker would be better but I might just be compensating for lack of bass.

Also eq wise what would you recommend for snare. I'm alittle lost. I cut at about 400 in the guitars and boosted 400 in the snare but I still doesn't really cut through much.

For the snare you could try,

HP 60Hz boost around 100 - 500Hz for the body, and you can find presence in the 3 - 10KHz.

Also abit of compression can help it cut through in the mix.

Cheers dude!

I'm definitely gonna try that, I don't know the fundamental frequencies for alot of stuff. I mean I know there's no rules that are set in stone but I've just been using my ears.
