My first time mixing a band i'm not in!

sounds good! :) but i think the kick is a tad to loud, and the vocals are at a minumum volume, needs more in your face! :)
great otherwise!

Thanks homeslice. Yeah the drums are loud in general but I wanted to highlight the best played and tightest sounding element. The vocals...trust me I polished and massaged them as much as possible!

What are you using for drums?

Some of the sections REALLY remind me of Gojira. :headbang:

Drums they tracked on V-drums and sent me the edited MIDI. I used The Metal Foundry primarily blended with some Avatar, some Evil Drums, and another kick sample, snare was also blended 50/50 with Trigger Black Beauty.

Gojira eh? Never really heard that...but cool! I found them more kinda classic along the lines of Machinehead maybe or some older bay area stuff. :kickass:

The mix is a bit cloudy in the midrange. I would check the balance of the guitars and vocals when it comes to high-mid/high content.

Gating the sustain on the toms would make it sound a bit more real on some of those fills.

I'm liking the mix a lot otherwise.

Thanks Greg! Yeah the guitars are centered a bit higher then the vocals mids wise in this one, seemed to suit the style and the guys voice. Always room for improvement though!

I wanted the toms to be huge and ring out a lot, kind of a throwback to some classic shit. I think the drums in general are a bit over edited timing and velocity wise but I didn't really have time to touch that too much.
