hey everyone, just started working on my latest project, a full length for my friends, nashville pop/rock band farewell fighter (great dudes, killer band and even better songs, www.myspace.com.farewellfighter)

we have been recording in my apartment, which has a big main room with a vaulted ceiling, and we have just spent all week on drum sounds, all drums are live; with recorded samples of the actual drums themselves blended in just for the cleanliness of the mix.

here's a rough 30 second clip of some of the toanz we've got so far:

only plugins used on this are trillium lane verb, smack comp and the reg-ass protools LE EQ. drums are routed through so many different buses it's unreal (for transient shaping etc), and the kick still needs EQ work but im very happy with how it sounds so far.

and considering how 80% of my production knowledge has come from this forum, here's the samples for your enjoyment in neat WAV files (just stick em in drumagog and they should work great):

the kit is a 3 piece SJC acrylic, with 24" kick. the kick sample was recorded by hitting the drum by hand with a spare telecaster neck i had lying around. it just sounded better than all our other sticks/beaters.

if you're wondering what the snare drum is, it's one of those $150 black beauty brass knockoffs (made by WorldMax, ebay that shit NOW or fail forever), 14x6.5. IMO it sounded a lot better than that paramore snare sample that we tried first.

let me know what you think!

Hey man, samples sound really nice!

I just tried to download the wavs and it just downloads a txt document :/

Not sure if this is me just being completely stupid tho.

Cheers for the samps! Never enough! one thing in your drum mix man maybe it was these monitors but the kick is beachballish.. suck some of those low mids out it will play nicer with everything else..thanks again yeah!

I've remembered those after a long time for a project I though they would fit. Thanks bro!
