Holy shit! I recently bought this Scott Ian owned Jackson JJ4 pinstripe guitar from Geer Geeks in Huntington Beach, CA. It used to be one of his home studio 'mess around' guitars. It was 1 of 6 guitars Scott traded in for a special guitar he used to own years ago. There should be an Ian interview about his trade in Guitar World soon.
The other is my Washburn si91 (1 of 25) personally beaten, splattered, and signed & lettered 'I' by Ian. :headbang:

cool guitar but they were very expensive when they first came out, they worth the money?

You mean the Washburn? Yes, I think they were way overpriced. I think they play nice and all. I found mine preowned for under $800 which is the most i'd ever pay for one. There's one on ebay now for $3,849.30 which is pretty freakin' ridiculous if you ask me!

How would you rate those guitars overally (sound, versatility,...)?

Do you play Anthrax with them? :D

I'm not a pro but to me they sound and play pretty well compared to the Ibanez ARZ400 and Gadow guitars that I have (had). I love the pickups that were upgraded on the jackson jj. I play just a little Anthrax  (I am The Law & Devil You Know)

Nice guitar!! I'm a bass player though and I gotta admit the last time I saw Anthrax in Tampa I was blown away by Frank's tone, I was at the front of the stage and every galloping note just pierced through everything I wanted to steal his rig lol. Never heard a bass tone that great and I've been to hundreds of shows, I'm still trying to replicate that sound on my rig. Don't know much about guitar tone but I bet that axe can deliver!

I am no guitar player (obviously).. I have always wondered are Scotts guitars smaller than most since he is so tiny? Like the fret board is it not as long as some other guitars? Honestly not trying to be a dick just really curious?

Not sure I heard that Spitz' guitars were smaller though, but he is really tiny 5'1" I think. I'm the same height as Scott! (5'6"):D

I'd have either of them. They do the job they were designed for. How different to the Seymour Duncun SH-4 in the Jackson and the SD Diablo in the Washburn sound? Are both guitars made out of Mahogany?

The JJ4 has an alder body and maple bolt on neck, and my Washburn si91 has mahogany body and neck. They both sound great but I prefer the sound of the Jackson..

Max Cavalera? He should not be mentioned in the same Breath as Scott Ian. I'm sure Scott has extra Jumbo frets. Nothing wrong with bolt-on necks. They can sound just as good. Bolt-ons are standard for Fender and Ibanez.

Max Cavalera is a metal legend, but mainly for his vocal style. Scott Ian is also somewhat of a legend for his rhythm guitar playing. I'd personally take Max Cavalera's attitude and body of work any day over Scott Ians. Sepultura, Nailbomb, Cavalera Conspiracy, Soulfly are all brilliant. Anthrax is half brilliant, The Damned Things is a joke, the project with Sabastian Bach was a joke, and SOD was amazing but only for 1 album

- that is heavy ass shit

Nailbomb one of the most underrated project ever imo

I saw the recent youtube footage of Soulfly and I have to say Max is a shadow of his former self. During Refuse/Resist he just stood there. He wasn't even playing the song, just downpicking open "D' notes the whole way, I'm glad the PA guy had it turned down, the other guy was propping him up. You talk of vocal style, non exsistant on that video. If I payed money to see a band the he controls and rules, then I's expect to see better than that and not be ripped off.

Scott has maintained or even improved as a player. It's personal tatse I guess, you like that stuff more than Anthrax it seems but I'd take Anthraxs' work any day. The only competition from anything Cavalera is Beneath the Remains, Arise and Chaos A.D. I know, I know, you will say V8, Stomp, TGOTE blah blah blah they made good frisbees when tossed from your car right?

As you can see on the pic, Washburn has a slightly bigger body, but no, they're normal sized guitars.
