Hi!

I've had a break from recording for about 2 years now and I'm starting to get back to it.

This song was my last project I did about 2 years ago, well the demo was. It had 5 songs on it.

Everything was recorded pretty quick and the band didn't really care about their perfomance, it's kinda sloppy. On the first day of tracking drums, the drummer had forgot his drumsticks. I was like, WTF!? That's the only thing you had to remember to bring and you manage to forget it?
The guitarists was bending the strings slightly while he played so sometimes it was out of tune and sometimes not. But I was like, if they didn't care about it why should I bother?

It was also my first time editing drums (cutting and aligning/quantizing) so it's not perfect and the drummers perfomance didn't make it any easier.

Anyway, would like some feedback on this, would be great!

Sounds good, nice drums and guitars

It doesn't sound polished though, I guess most of that is the bands performance.

I would like some more reverb/effects on the vocals and drums. Maybe you should scratch the EQ and effects on the vocals and start over, they sound kind of "preproduction".

Some guitar parts need automation, the chords and chugging is loud but the single string stuff that comes in sometimes needs more volume.

Look over the bass frequencies in the mix and maybe tame them a bit.

That's what I would do personally but it's just a matter of taste :)

Sounds good.

Other than what was already mentioned, I think the hihat is maybe a bit too loud and cutting in some parts.

Thanks for the tips!

Yeah, the sound on the vocals isn't great. Always had problems with getting a good vocal sound.

And you're right about the guitars needs some automation.

This was an old project and it's too late to change anything now but I will keep this tips in mind when I do my next project.

Thanks again for your replies!

Vocals make me want to strangle the singer with his own hands. You also can't make vocals sound good if they're wretched from the word go. It's not your fault man!!! Get ahold of yourself!!!! HAHA! Guitars have some nice girth to them for this style of music. Got some good breathing room in there. Granted I couldn't listen to the whole thing cause the sissy singer screaming like his dad didn't let him finish his video game, ruined it. :D

Not a fan of the vocalist, but I think this production sounds killer. Sounds like a perfect combination of polished and raw to my ears. I wouldn't change a thing. There are a couple performance things, but tonally I like this...Well, again, except for the vocalist.

Haha, I have to agree with you, urinebath, about the screaming!

Thanks for the positive comments! I really didn't want it to sound like every other emokid band out there and I always want to keep things as simple as possible and use as little effects as possible. Maybe I did something good with this!

Thanks again!

By the way, did anyone think the 5150 was with impulses?
