Every forum needs one!

The End had a good shipment in recently. And here's what my wallet decided to volunteer itself for:

Source of Tide - Ruins of Beauty (*somewhere Haddsie is drooling*)
Vintersorg - Odemarkens Son
Grave Digger - Middle Ages Trilogy
Morbid Angel - Altars of Madness (24-bit remastered)
Ancient Rites - As the Hoardes Stood as One (*JayKeeley drools*)
Marty Friedman - Music For Speeding (*ChiefB drools and flys over to NY next week just to hear it).

@markgugs - speaking of our ex-Megadeth axe slinger, are you posting the Tourniquet CD over? Man, I cannot wait to hear that based on the Metal Blade description.....

Yes Ali, though I'll probably be too lazy and have to drive it over to you. :D

As for my "purchases" - you're so British - I mean, as for my latest HAUL, I've posted it everywhere else on the planet, might as well post it in my own damned forum, eh?

Anaal Nathrakh - Total Fucking Necro
Blood Red Throne - Affiliated With The Suffering (digi)
Dark Fortress - Profane Genocidal Creations
Dragonforce - Valley Of The Damned
The Duskfall - Frailty
The Haunted - One Kill Wonder
Lost Horizon - A Flame To The Ground Beneath
Marduk - World Funeral
Negura Bunget - 'N Crugu Bradului
Negura Bunget - Zarindu-sa

Um, and that's it for now.

Just arrived:

Edge of Sanity - Crimson
Nightingale - I
Amorphis - Elegy
Sarcastic - Nacimiento Hacia Las Alturas (Mexico's answer to the Seps).

Hey Haddsie or Papa Josh - can you translate the Sarcastic album title for me? :)

Well, my 2 CDs from Red Stream came today (Negura Bunget - Zarindu-sa & Dark Fortress), but I ordered them w/ free s/h 1 day after I ordered from The End and paid for 3-day delivery. WTF?

Came home from picking up my Metalfest 3-day pass, and couldn't pass up the opportunity to waste some more money and buy 3 more albums. The haul:

.hopesfall. - The Satellite Years
Finntroll - Jaktens Tid (figured it was about time I replaced by CD-R)
Tiamat - The Astral Sleep (+2 bonus) (thanks to Erik's superb review)

No habla espanol... yeah, I know, I love mexican food, my wife is hispanic, but she doesn't speak much spanish either...

However, you will profess your love of the Crimson cd to me later... :D

BTW, .hopesfall. is fucking killer. Who would have thought npearce would be on to something?

And my haul from The End finally showed up! In the nets were:

Anaal Nathrakh - Total Fucking Necro
Blood Red Throne - Affiliated With The Suffering (digi)
Dragonforce - Valley Of The Damned
The Duskfall - Frailty
The Haunted - One Kill Wonder
Lost Horizon - A Flame To The Ground Beneath
Marduk - World Funeral
Negura Bunget - 'N Crugu Bradului

Of special note: the Negura cd WAS the one in the handcrafted oversized digipack, complete with beautiful packaging, tree leaf (!) and more. It's absolutely gorgeous.

Hey, didn't see this until just now. First, if they are Mexico's answer to the Seps, I can't wait to hear it! Second, the title doesn't actually translate that easily into English. It's been a long time since I really spoke any Spanish though, so maybe I'm wrong.

If there are any Spanish speakers on the forum, please chime in!

The best I can come up with is: "birth towards the heights," or maybe "birth towards the heavens."

It doesn't sound great in English, but you get the idea.

wait... it could also be more like "origin towards the heavens"

I am going to obsess on this now. :) Anyway, the idea is there is a starting point and then travel straight upwards... like the fate of this thing that was started or was born is to just keep going straight up.

Shit, that's cool. Hope you like it. Do you own any other Tiamat? If not, you really need "Clouds" and "Wildhoney" (both better than TAS IMO,) and "A Deeper Kind Of Slumber" is most excellent, although it's nowhere near metal. I should write reviews of those so you'll buy them as well. :D DO stay away from the last two ones though, they're crap.

Oh, and what are the bonus tracks? Never seen that version.

Hey, np, it seriously was your review. It did exactly what it was supposed to do: generate someone's interest enough to go take a chance. Just because I write for the 'zine, I'm still a fan of metal you know?!

Tiamat was always one of those bands I knew about and never "got around to." If I truly like it once I actually get to listening to it, I will definitely be in the market to pick up some more of their stuff.

Oh, and what are the bonus tracks? Never seen that version.

I don't honestly know if they're bonus tracks or not, but Century Media has done quite a bit of reissuing over the past few years, often either combining 2 early albums in a band's catalogue, or adding old EPs or something. Anyway, the 2 tracks are "A Winter Shadow" and "Ancient Eternity," both original versions from one of their earliest (I think the liner notes say 1990) demos.

Yeah, that's what I thought. They're from a demo tape/7" EP (which I have, being a rabid Tiamat collector) called "A Winter Shadow" and are worse versions of the tracks on the album, having rather questionable vocals, heh. To complicate matters further, the ALBUM version of "A Winter Shadow" is actually also a bonus track on the original edition on the CD: it didn't fit on the LP (which I have!) I suppose.
